Uniform Recycling
We have now completed a two-year transition to the ‘new’ Centenary Collection for the academic and core PE uniform, so all students should now be in the new uniform. To support this change, we are offering families the opportunity to recycle old branded uniform.
Recycling collection date
- Saturday 14 March | 8.00am – 12.30pm | Bayview Carpark
- Please note this is a new date from previously advertised
What we can accept
While we’re proud to support families and promote sustainability, by prioritising material reuse and keeping uniforms out of landfill, this recycling service does come at a significant cost to the School. To manage this, we can only accept old branded uniform items (i.e. clothing with the School crest or name).
All other non-branded items (e.g. old shorts, pants and skirts) can be recycled via alternative channels (see below for options) or they remain as part of the ongoing uniform (e.g. school bags and rugby jumpers).
- ✓ Blazers
- ✓ Knitwear (with crest)
- ✓ Shirts (with crest)
- ✓ Ties
- ✓ PE tops, shorts/trackpants, jumpers & jackets
- ✓ House tops
- ✓ Dresses & Tunics
- ✓ Knitted scarves
How it works – easy as 1-2-3!
- On a designated recycling collection date, drive into the Bayview Carpark
(via Naples Road) and park your car. - Bring your CLEAN branded items to our manned sorting station.
- Items will be verified and sorted accordingly.
Please don’t bring items for RECYCLING to the School or P&F Shop before this day as we are unable to store them.Â
What happens to the uniforms?
We’ve teamed up with After, an ethical and sustainable textile recycler who will transform unwearable uniforms into new yarn, reducing landfill and supporting a circular economy.
Options for non-branded items
For those items we cannot take, there are several options to consider:
- After. also offer a paid monthly home collection service for all textiles including clothing, uniforms, fabric scraps, offcuts, bedding and linen, as well as bags and shoes.
- H&M & Zara offer free recycling programs in select stores for all kinds of clothing and textiles in any condition (Zara also accepts shoes, linen, and accessories). Both have large stores at Chadstone Shopping Centre. Check their websites for details.
- Savers & Salvos – good quality non-branded items can be donated to a local op shop, or there are several large donation centres nearby:
- Savers Moorabbin: 430 Warrigal Road, Heatherton VIC 3202
- Salvos Mentone: 46/50 Florence Street, Mentone VIC 3194
- Salvos Cheltenham: 1216 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham 3192
We appreciate the ongoing support of our students, parents, and staff in maintaining our uniform standards and embracing sustainability. Your efforts make a real difference!
