ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Our Enrichment Team help to ensure ÐÔÊӽ紫ý students are challenged beyond the classroom and are inspired to take their learning further.

All students deserve to feel academically challenged and socially connected to like-minded peers. ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s Enrichment program is designed to promote creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in highly intellectually able students.

We recognise the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of gifted and highly able students and aim to provide them with support and opportunities to help them achieve their full potential, ensuring an appropriate level of academic challenge.

Nurturing Curiosity. Unleashing Potential.

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý offers General Extension and Maths Extension withdrawal classes in Years 1 – 9. The program aims to go beyond the mainstream curriculum to stimulate curiosity and inspire students to become lifelong learners, with a focus on science, mathematics, technology, literacy, public speaking and philosophical thinking.

Hands-on Learning

Many learning experiences are based on hands-on investigations and inquiry. The student selection process involves teacher nomination, academic aptitude and achievement testing and the consultation of formal assessment data where appropriate.

Highly able Year 10 and 11 students are invited to participate in enrichment opportunities throughout the year. Students may opt in to activities, usually competitions, and receive mentoring and support from an Enrichment Programs teacher.

Year 12 Highly Able Mentoring Program

In Year 12, students identified as highly able or high achieving are offered additional mentoring to focus on goal setting, progress checking, troubleshooting issues, building social and emotional strength and resilience, reviewing student data and working on skill development. These sessions are run fortnightly and are designed so that our students work with their mentor to set goals, create an action plan, and review their progress every week.

Competitions and Challenges

Competitions and challenges are offered for highly able students from Years 1 – 12 and are designed to encourage them to take risks, develop their independent learning and goal setting skills, and develop their confidence within their areas of interest. These competitions are challenging, yet emotionally and academically rewarding. In addition, if a student shows interest in a topic, project or competition, our Enrichment Team will work hard to integrate it into their learning.

Please note, that the following competitions and challenges are run on an interest and needs basis, and may be subject to change.
